Box Score CARSON -- Coming into this week ranked No. 2 nationally, Cal State Dominguez Hills fended off a pesky Stanislaus State squad and a quintessential trap game by scoring a late goal to forge a 1-1 tie, keeping their unbeaten record intact on a cool night at Toro Stadium.
Freshman
Christian Briseno scored his 4th goal of the season at the 60:10 mark to salvage a point on the night.
The Toros began the first 45 minutes of play with a flurry, outshooting the visitors by an 11-5 mark. Unfortunately, just one of their shots was on frame compared to three for the visitors.
The Warriors' efficient attack proved dividends as Stan State was assessed a penalty kick attempt at the 12:58 mark, which Daniel Gomez converted for his second goal of the year and the lone score of the half.
After the break, the Warriors continued their efficient play, nearly matching the Toros in shots with five compared to the host's six. CSUDH, however, found much more success finding the frame as the Warrior keeper was forced to make five saves in six total shots by the Cardinal and Gold, with the sixth shot finding paydirt, courtesy of Briseno.
The Toros tallied a 9-1 edge in corner kicks, with the two teams combining for eight cautions, including two on Warrior Kai Perez, who'll be forced to sit out Sunday's contest.
CSUDH will host Cal State East Bay on Sunday at 2 pm, marking the final home match of the regular season. Prior to kickoff, the Toros will recognize four seniors inÂ
Alfredo Garcia,
David Aguilera,
Danny Hernandez, and
Frank Aguilar.
