CARSON – All non-conference matches played in Southern California, including at home, an 18-match conference schedule featuring the defending national champions highlight the Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team's return to the court after missing the entire 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021 Toros schedule, announced Wednesday, will begin on the 'road' at fellow California Collegiate Athletic Association rival Cal Poly Pomona against two opponents in the NCAA West Region, Western Oregon out of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and Concordia (Calif.) hailing from the PacWest Conference. The Toros will also square up with Western New Mexico in Kellogg Arena during opening weekend.
With the traditional D2 West Region Showcase not happening this year, the Toros took full advantage of the second week of the season by hosting six matches in two days, welcoming fellow CCAA member Stanislaus State, Azusa Pacific, Point Loma and Westminster. Dominguez Hills will face Stan State in non-conference play followed by Westminster. The weekend is wrapped up in Irvine against Fresno Pacific on the campus of Concordia.
For the first time since 2014, the Toros will open conference play at the Torodome, hosting Sonoma State and Humboldt State that weekend.
The Toro volleyball program will be in for a treat on Sept. 25 as they and the men's and women's soccer teams will be visiting Cal State Monterey Bay. The soccer teams will clash in the daylight and volleyball will take the night shift at 7 p.m. The last time both soccer and volleyball teams played the same institution was Sept. 30, 2016, against San Francisco State except the volleyball team played the Gators in the City by the Bay. However, the last time all three programs played the same opponent in one location was Sept. 21, 2012, against, coincidentally, the Otters.
Another first for the volleyball program will be Oct. 15-16, when Dominguez Hills and crosstown rivals Cal State LA will meet in a home-and-home weekend. The Toros will start the series off at the Torodome before they drive up the 710 freeway to wrap the weekend up at University Gym.
Because the 2020 volleyball season was cancelled, Cal State San Bernardino will continue to be recognized as the defending NCAA Division II champions. The Toros face the Coyotes at the Torodome on Oct. 1 and again at Coussoulis Arena on Oct. 30. It will be the first time since 2000 that Dominguez Hills will face the reigning national champions. BYU-Hawai`i won it all in 1999.
Coussoulis Arena will again host the 2021 CCAA Tournament from Nov. 18-20. The conference will take three teams from each of the North and South Divisions into the tournament.
Head coach
Jennifer Adeva returns for her 11

All matches, both at home and at any CCAA member, can be watched on the
