Box Score TURLOCK – The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team took full advantage of three errors to route Stanislaus State 4-1 Sunday and exit the weekend with six points to start CCAA play.
The Toros have gone 3-0-1 in their last four matches to improve their overall record to 4-1-1.
The Warriors (5-2-1, 1-1-0 CCAA, 3 pts.) saw their five-match win streak snapped because of those mistakes. The first one came in the 33
rd minute when a tripping foul awarded Dominguez Hills a penalty kick. Sowe broke the ice by going to the left side of the goal, fooling Warrior keeper Sebastian Castellanos.
The scoring difference in the contest came in the 59
th minute.
Michael McKibbin battled with a Warrior defender in the box and slotted it to
Brandon Lee in the middle, who two-touched a shot to the right side of the goal to make it 2-0.
Stanislaus State put itself into a deeper hole when another foul in the box put
Sulaiman Bah at the penalty kick mark. Bah netted his fifth goal of the season and gave the Toros a 3-0 lead.
Although the Warriors scored their only goal in the 80
th minute, the third and final critical mistake came seven minutes later when a defender stretched his foot out to stop a cross only for it to land in the back of their own net.
The Toros outshot the Warriors 21-11 overall, 9-3 on goal.
Dominguez Hills returns home to play its first match at Toro Stadium against Humboldt State. Kickoff on Friday is at a rare 4 p.m.
