CORNING – Sixty-two golfers participating the Chico State Wildcat Classic had to battle perhaps the most difficult element at the 6,920-yard, par 72 The Links at Rolling Hills: the wind. While the tournament was shortened to just one round Monday, Cal State Dominguez Hills combined a score of 326 to place eighth with the second and final round to play Tuesday morning.
Logan Miyamoto currently sits in the top 10 after scoring a four-over 78. He birdied the first and third holes while making par in 10 of them. The tournament leader, Matthew Watkins of Academy of Art, came up even at the end of the day.
The Toros as whole are trailing leader Stanislaus State, which combined a 21-over 309. Among CCAA opponents, Dominguez Hills trails Chico State by four shots and Sonoma State by two. It does have a one stroke lead over Cal State Monterey Bay.
