CARSON -- Former Cal State Dominguez Hills goalkeeper Trey Mitchell signed a professional contract on March 26 with the LA Galaxy, it was announced this afternoon.  Per MLS and LA Galaxy policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"I am very blessed to be able to train and play with the best team in the nation and be coached by some of the most decorated coaches in US history, led by Bruce Arena, and I am excited to begin working harder than ever," said an elated Mitchell, who signed his contract on the road in Washington, DC, where the Galaxy takes on DC United tomorrow at 4:30 pm PST.

"Throughout this process, being in the Chivas USA organization and learning from Dan Kennedy, and playing one season with the Ventura County Fusion, God has truly blessed me," he continued.

Head coach Joe Flanagan, who coached Mitchell for three seasons at CSUDH, echoed Mitchell's excitement by saying, "We are all extremely happy for him and excited that he gets an opportunity at the next level.  He is hard working and committed."

Mitchell began his college career at Citrus College, where he recorded 97 saves with a 1.30 goals against average in his first two seasons before transferring to Cal State Dominguez Hills. A fter redshirting in 2012, he played the following two seasons for CSUDH, making 20 starts and recording 71 saves for a .85 goals against average, the fourth best in school history.

"Trey is a talented goalkeeper who can provide us with solid depth," said LA Galaxy Head Coach and General Manager Bruce Arena. "We are happy to add him to our roster and look forward to his contributions as a member of our team."

A product of Alta Loma, California, Mitchell attended Alta Loma High School.
