Baseball Walks Off With Series Win After 4-3 Victory in Ninth

Danny Haley got jiggy with it after hitting his walk-off
Box Score

CARSON -- Senior Danny Haley pulled a pitch down the left field line with the game tied to drive home Alex Sixtos with the game-winning run as Cal State Dominguez Hills won its third-straight game over visiting CS Stanislaus to take the series, three games to one.

Senior pitcher Bubby Rossman provided both pitching and power, earning the win with two-thirds of an inning pitched and going three-for-four with a home run and two RBI as the Toros improve to 17-15, 12-12 CCAA.

With the win, CSUDH also has won seven of its last eight league games to put them right back into the mix for the CCAA Championship Tournament, just five games back of the fourth and final spot with 16 games left in the regular season, including four at perennial power Chico State next weekend.

Trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Toros put three on the board after series hitting hero Kamran Young continued his hot bat with an RBI double to plate Haley, before Rossman followed with a shot to right field for a 3-1 lead.

CSUS added single runs in the eighth and ninth to tie the game, with Rossman entering in the ninth to retire the final two outs and position himself for a win.

And that's exactly what happened after Haley got jiggy with it, hammering his second hit of the game for the walk off after Will Smith's song served as his walk-up.

Toro starter Brennan Bernardino tossed a strong 7.0, scattering six hits with just one run against, fanning nine against two walks.

Sixtos also added two in the win, a tenuous one after the Toros committed three errors.

CSUDH will face a stiffer test next weekend as the Toros travel to Chico to face the Chico State Wildcats, which split their four-game set against Cal State East Bay this past weekend.
