CSUDH starter Brennan Bernardino hurled 7.0 innings of scoreless ball in today's win
Box Score

SEASIDE -- Led by 7.0 shutout innings by Brennan Bernardino and a grand slam by Bubby Rossman, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros completed the series sweep at Cal State Monterey Bay in resounding fashion after a runaway 13-3 decision, the Toros' first sweep of a CCAA series since 2010, when they swept all four games from the same Otters in Seaside.

With the win, the Toros even their overall record to 14-14, while sitting 9-11 in the CCAA.

The Toros stormed to a lead early with five in the first, tallying six hits with the big blow coming on a Rossman 2RBI single with the bases loaded, a preview of things to come from the senior left-handed slugger.

CSUDH added three more three innings later on a couple of hits, with Kamran Young belting his second long ball in as many games, a three-run shot that was pulled over the right field fence.

The Toros completed their scoring in the eighth on four hits as a Hayden Maurice RBI single with the bases juiced kept the table full for Rossman one batter later as Rossman got a hold of a 2-0 offering and deposited it over the right field wall for a grand slam.

CSUMB got back three runs in its eighth-inning at-bat on a pair of hits, but it wasn't nearly enough in the 13-3 final.

Bernardino fanned six Otter batters while scattering just three hits in the win, while Peter Ives' 4-for-5, 3 run effort led the offensive charge as Rossman and Danny Haley each contributed three hits in the rout.

The Toros will continue CCAA action at home next weekend hosting CS Stanislaus, starting Friday, April 4, at Toro Field.
