Gleason Fires 76 in Final Round to Lead Toros as CSUB Spring Invitational Concludes

BAKERSFIELD -- Redshirt freshman Bret Gleason saved his best for last, firing a 4-over 76 on the third and final round of the Cal State Bakersfield-hosted CSUB Spring Invitational to place him in a tie for 21st overall.

Gleason was the lone Toro to shoot any round in the 70s as CSUDH finished 5th of 5 teams competing.

Gleason finished with a 242 overall after shooting a pair of 83s in the first two rounds to give him his best tournament of the year.

Junior Richard Rea followed yesterday's rounds of 85 and 80 with an 83 to place him 23rd with a total of 248, with Trey Mitchell (86-82-88-256) and Brandon Quezada (82-84-90-256) tying for 24th, and Jonathan Boersma finishing 26th (93-93-97-280).

Individually, Sonoma State's Eric Ash won a 2-hole sudden death playoff with a birdie and eagle to take the title over Roadrunner Chase Goodvin, a victory that helped the Seawolves also take the team title over the hosts.

CSUDH will next see action at the Fort Lewis College-hosted Skyhawk Classic in two weeks, held in Palm Desert.
