Box Score

CARSON -- Senior Karenee Demery showed why she's the top player on the top team in the league as her 7th-ranked CS Stanisalus Warriors cruised to a 4-0 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills in the Stub Hub Center's Main Stadium, a primetime locale for a primetime player.

With the loss, CSUDH dips to 4-6-1, 3-5-1, while CSUS remains unbeaten at 10-0-1, 8-0-1 CCAA.

The Toros got off to a shaky start against the league's best team by leaving two-time CCAA Player of the Year Karenee Demery unmarked twice in the first five minutes of play, with Demery making CSUDH pay with a pair of unassisted and uncontested scores at 1:06 and 4:16.

CSUS made it 3-0 in the 17th minute after an attempted clear in front of the Toro net on a Warrior cross went awry, with the deflection skipping past Toro keeper Jennifer Ackerly for the score.

The Warriors enjoyed a healthy 10-3 shot advantage in the half that included a 4-1 edge in shots on goal.

The hosts played with more urgency after the break, out-shooting the visitors 7-4 in the half.  But CSUS still made its chances count after Demeree assumed the role of giver, feeding a cross to Sabrina Williamson just two minutes into the second half where Williamson back-heeled her shot past Ackerly for a 4-0 lead at 47:42.

Caitlin Peterson led the second-half charge totaling 3 shots in the day, with Megan Guzman lighting an offensive fire as well with both her shots on frame in the loss.

Chelsea Lewandowski made 6 saves for the Warriors compared to 2 for Ackerly.

CSUDH will try to get back into the win column on Sunday as it hosts Cal State East Bay at 11:30 am in Toro Stadium, with the game also CSUDH's "Think Pink" contest.
