Toledo's Two Goals Fuel Toros' 4-1 Win Over Humboldt State

Box Score
CARSON -- Junior Claudia Toledo tallied her fifth and sixth goals of the year as Cal State Dominguez Hills took 22 shots en route to a 4-1 win over Humboldt State to conclude CSUDH's regular season home schedule.  Toledo also added an assist to help the Toros sweep the weekend after Friday's huge win over No. 5 Sonoma State.

With the win, CSUDH improves to 5-9-2, while HSU falls to 1-11.

After Toledo notched a pair of goals in her second game ever in Cardinal and Gold, she did it again in the final game of 2012 in Toro Stadium to give CSUDH its first two-game win streak of the year.

Here are Toledo's thoughts on today's win, and thoughts on next season.

The Long Beach native began her deluge in the 12th minute after taking a cross from Gabrielle Pena and flicking her shot far post past HSU keeper Kelly Lukas.

Pena was at it again seven minutes later as she instigated the Toros' second score, sending a short through ball to Friday night's hero Olivia Patterson who beat Lukas with a one-touch for a 2-nil lead.

That's where the score remained until Jack Carly Kolpin sent a 25 yard screamer over the arms of Toro keeper Jennifer Ackerly to cut HSU's deficit in half in the 70th minute, the only one of 11 shots on goal the freshman keep failed to stop.

But Toledo made sure the Cardinal and Gold wouldn't end their home schedule with a loss as she set up Caitlin Peterson wtih her first score of the year after Peterson collected Toledo's blast and beat Lukas to her right for a 3-1 lead at 77:44.

Toledo then closed the scoring with an assist from Patterson, controlling a cross and finishing past Lukas at 85:54 to account for the 4-1 score.

The offensive contest saw 39 shots taken, with 11 of HSU's 17 coming on goal compared to just 8 of CSUDH's 22 attempts.

Ackerly ended up with 10 saves on the day compared to 4 for Lukas, as the Toros finished with 7 corners compared to just 2 by HSU.

Here's head coach Joe Flanagan talking about the contest and the last home game of the regular season.

CSUDH will wrap up its 2012 on the road next weekend at Cal Poly Pomona and San Francisco State.
