Brandt Makes It Three-Straight for Toros in 1-0 Win Over Gators

Keeper Dickerson ties for CSUDH's all-time career shutouts in win

With today's shutout win, junior Markus Dickerson ties for the CSUDH all-time career mark in shutouts
Box Score
SAN FRANCISCO -- A mental mistake by San Francisco State in the 20th minute proved costly as freshman Connor Brandt intercepted a Gator pass back to SFSU's keeper and drilled in the game-winner at the 19:54 mark to give CSUDH its third-straight shutout victory, which also ties keeper Markus Dickerson as the CSUDH career leader in shutouts.

Under wet field conditions, the hosts pushed the action early, only to have the Toros counter before hitting paydirt in the 20th minute.

After a scrum in the box, a Gator defender looked to pass the ball back to keeper Eric Scolman for a clear, but failed to see Brandt lurking behind.

As the pass made its way slowly to Scolman, Brandt maneuvered around the Gator defender to intercept the ball and blistered his shot pass Scolman for the score, the first of his young Toro career.

That's where the score held as the field conditions, each defense and each keeper kept the offenses off the scoreboard the remaining 70 minutes in CSUDH's 1-0 win, bringing the Toros to 6-2-1, 4-2-1 CCAA.

Keeper Dickerson, who made three saves on the day, notched a shutout to bring his 2011 total to 3.5 and his career total to 24, tying him for the CSUDH all-time record in shutouts with former Toro great Kyle Polak, who enjoyed a three-year stretch in Carson (2004-06).

The teams tied with 14 shots apiece, with CSUDH taking 6 corners to SFSU's 4 on the day.

The Toros continue CCAA south division action on Sunday with a match-up at division-leading Cal Poly Pomona at 11:30 am, which hosts Cal State L.A. later this afternoon
