Box Score
CARSON -- Senior Jordan Rover equalized with his third goal of the season at the 64:50 mark, but that was the final goal of the game as defenses from both No. 25 Cal State Dominguez Hills and cross-town rival Cal State L.A. got the best of their opposing offenses in a 1-1 double-overtime tie between the two schools.

After a scoreless first period in which just 8 shots were attempted in an intense 45-minute session, the visitors struck first after Derek Faulkner lobbed a ball over the Toro defense to a waiting Jason Swope, whose cross found the feet of Rosario Bras just a foot away from keeper Markus Dickerson, who beat Dickerson near post for a 1-0 lead at 51:12.

CSULA nearly doubled its lead in the 60th minute after Swope won a 50/50 ball that glanced off Dickerson and found its way heading into the Toro goal, but defender Antonio Garcia chased down the loose ball and cleared it just before it crossed the goal line, keeping CSUDH's deficit at just 1-0.

That momentum turned offensive in the 64th minute after Connor Brandt collected a CSULA turnover and sent a cross to the goalmouth, where Rover headed his shot past a leaping Jose Martinez far post to equalize.

Rover nearly gave CSUDH a 2-1 lead in the 78th minute after heading a Miguel Vasquez cross, but was called for offsides to keep the game knotted at 1-1.

Vasquez almost won the game as time was about to expire, but Martinez made a sensational one-handed stab to save the game, sending the contest into overtime.

The Toros enjoyed a 5-to-2 shot advantage in the ovetime periods, with the Rover-Vasquez connection nearly capitalizing on multiple occasions.

Both keepers, however, were more than up to the double-overtime challenge as the game ended in a draw.

Prior to the game, both soccer teams recognized their local heroes from CSUDH's ROTC in Sergeant First Class Michael Leal and five cadets, campus police Detective Mike Kinoshita and Lieutenant Eddie Rivero from the Carson Sheriff's station, who all were presented autographed soccer balls from team captains Dickerson, Rover and Jordan Hatanaka from the men's team, and Jessica Murphy, Paige Peel-Hand and Lexi Ford from the women's team.

CSUDH, now 3-0-1, 1-0-1 CCAA, continues CCAA hosting duties next weekend as Chico State visits Carson next Friday, with first kick set for 7:00 pm.
