Seawolves Complete Sweep of Toros After 10-5 Decision

Box Score

CARSON -- Facing an undefeated Sonoma State Seawolves squad, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros were not able to keep pace and were swept in the series after a Sunday afternoon 10-5 loss.  Junior Josh Corrales had two RBIs on the day in his first start of the season in the field.

Sonoma State struck first in the top of the first inning, scoring one run and threatening to do more until a great play by third baseman Matt Faigh ended the rally.  The momentum gathered from that play propelled the Toros to their first lead of the series at 4-1.  The rally started with a one-out walk followed by two singles, and was capped off by a two-run error by the Seawolves shortstop.

After scoring a run in the top of the second, SSU took the lead at 6-4 in the top of the fifth thanks to four two-out runs.  Toros starter David Fair was pitching well until he could not record the final out of the fifth.  CSUDH would score a run on an RBI single by Josh Corrales in the bottom of the fifth to bring the margin down to 6-5 SSU.

After two scoreless innings by both sides, SSU blew the game open by getting four hits leading to four runs in the top of the eighth.

Jonathan Keener led the team with two hits on the day.

The CSUDH Toros will return to league action Thursday in Pomona against Cal Poly Pomona with first pitch set for 2:00pm.
