Second-Half Surge Spurs 3-1 Win Over CS San Bernardino

Box Score
SAN BERNARDINO -- Shaking off ill effects of last Sunday's double-overtime heartbreak against arch-rival Sonoma State, Cal State Dominguez Hills bounced back with a 3-goal second half in staging a 3-1 come-from-behind win over CS San Bernardino as Juan Quinonez tallied his first game-winner of his career.

With the win in front of an announced crowd of 230 weathering scorching summer-like conditions, CSUDH improves to 9-3-1, 7-3-1 CCAA.

After spotting the hosts a quick 1-0 lead in the game's first 10 minutes, allowing the Coyotes to enter intermission with an advantage, the Toros stormed back after the half as Josh Walker controlled a scrum deep inside the Coyote goalmoutn and punched it to the back of the net past CSUSB keeper Tanner Olinger at the 50:26 mark.

That's where the score remained unitl 15 minutes later as Quinonez got into the scoring act, taking a feed from Connor Brandt and heading his shot past Olinger far post for a 2-1 lead.

CSUDH kept its momentum going nearly 20 minutes later as Miguel Vasquez dribbled down the heart of the Coyote offense and blasted his shot into the net for an insurance goal.

Junior Juan Quiroz notched his first complete-game win, stopping 1 shot in the process.

Olinger, meanwhile, collected 4 saves in the loss as CSUSB drops to 5-8, 3-8 CCAA.

CSUDH looks to continue its winning ways on Sunday as it travels south to La Jolla to battle UC San Diego, a 4-2 loser to Cal State L.A. earlier today.
