CARSON -- Ten yellow and two red cards provided an audible subplot as No. 11 Cal State Dominguez Hills and visiting San Francisco State battled to a 2-2 double-overtime draw on a sunny and windy Sunday afternoon in Toro Stadium, bringing CSUDH to 4-0-2, 3-0-1 CCAA.  Junior Greg Piechota tallied both goals for the Toros in the tie.

Piechota tallied the game's first score after taking an Andre Turoldo cross and beating Gator keeper Michael McNeill near post for a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute.

That lead was short-lived, however, as Malcolm Linton fed a streaking Sasha Chalak deep in the Toro zone, where Chalak used his entire 6-2 frame to head the ball past the outstretched arms of CSUDH keeper Markus Dickerson for the equalizer in the 30th minute.

Piechota, however, answered again after an Austin Nate corner to give CSUDH a 2-1 lead with just minutes left in the half, before a red card called on the Toros for pulling a Gator down from behind gave SFSU the opportunity to equalize with a penalty kick, which Chalak capitalized on although Dickerson guessed correctly, but couldn't corral the blast.

Despite playing a man down, the Toros continued to be the aggressors on offense as evidenced by a 12-3 shot advantage in the second half.

The game again became equal when Gator Jeff Wiant was sent off with a red card after violent conduct in the 76th minute to give both teams 10 men, where they reached a stalemate after regulation.

Piechota had a golden opportunity for a hat trick three minutes into overtime after collecting a floater that dropped behind the Gator defense, but the San Diego native pulled it wide right, keeping the game knotted at 2-2 where it ended after the second extra session.

The Toros out-shot the visitors 21-8 on the day, garnering 4 corners to SFSU's 1, with McNeill making 6 saves on the day compared to 2 by Dickerson.

The Toros take to the road next weekend taking on CS San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona in key league matches.
