Indovina's Late Charge Helps Keep Linksters 10th at Elco, Inc.


BAKERSFIELD -- Junior Ryan Indovina enjoyed the best day two of his teammates, enabling Cal State Dominguez Hills to keep a firm grip on 10th place as the second and final day of the Cal State Bakersfield-hosted Elco, Invitational came to a close this afternoon.  Individually, Indovina finished tied for 21st with a +10 for the tournament.

Indovina was one of two Toros to fire in the 70s all three rounds (78-73-75-226), with Kenny Roberts following suit en route to a 49th place finish (78-77-78-233).  Senior Cavin McCall, who notched his first career double-eagle during yesterday's first round en route to the lone score in the 60s, finished nine over this morning for a tournament total of 230 (69-80-81), with Shaun Engle (75-78-87-240), Robby Mayes (83-76-81-240) and Keith Johnson (84-78-82-244) rounding out the Toro contingent.

Individually, Roadrunner Kyle Morrison won the tournament with a 7-under for the two days, while Sonoma State's Patrick Bauer and Cal State Stanislaus' Jonathan Cockerill tied for runner-up honors with a -2.

The Warriors took the team title with an 868 for the invitational despite shooting a 300 in the final round, based primarily on their second-round score of 277, with the host 'Runners finishing 6 strokes behind CSUS at 874.

The Toros next compete at the Coyotes Intercollegiate on March 1-2, hosted by Cal State San Bernardino.
