Toros Turn Over Game to Warriors, 79-53

Box Score
CARSON -- With the help of three players in double figures in scoring, Cal State Dominguez Hills played a close game until the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors pulled out a 79-53 victory after leading by just 10 with 8:25 left in regulation. Freshman guard Hillarie Perrin-Grant scored 13 points to go along with two assists on the afternoon.

The first half saw the Warriors come out looking to take the game early, with multiple All-CCAA center Katie Busi leading them to an 11-1 lead. Neither team forged much of a stronghold on the game as the lead hovered around 10 for the rest of the half. Perrin-Grant had 10 to lead the Toros as they shot 41% as a team.

Starting on a 7-2 run, CSU Stanislaus (5-4, 3-2 CCAA) appeared to grab the game, holding a 48-31 lead with 14:55 left. However CSU Dominguez Hills came roaring back, closing to within six points thanks to a 13-2 run over the next 4:20. Junior Nikki Boutte' was the catalyst for the run with help from junior post Ashley Hudson. But the surge was not enough as the Warriors pushed right back and went on a game-clinching 29-5 run.

For the game the Toros shot 38% from the field and a disappointing 65% from the free throw line while turning over the ball 29 times.  The Warriors shot 40% from both the field and from behind the arc with only 13 turnovers.  Boutte' led the team with 15 points and four assists while Hudson added 12 points to go along with her five rebounds.

Cal State Dominguez Hills (0-9, 0-5 CCAA) will return to action against the Wildcats of Chico State on Friday December 31, at the early start time of 12:30PM on the "Dave Yanai Court."  The game can be seen live via internet TV on www.GoToros.com/live.
