CARSON -- Despite getting yesterday's news that they were eliminated from next week's CCAA Championship Tournament, the defending NCAA West Region Champion Toros made sure to not let that interfere with honoring their six seniors this morning before finishing the 2010 campaign with a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over visiting Cal State San Bernardino.

With the win, CSUDH finishes its 2010 season at 12-5-1, 10-5-1 CCAA, while CSUSB falls to 9-8-1, 7-8-1 CCAA to end its season.

With plenty of emotion after recognizing their seniors, the visitors jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on a Jani Carmoni penalty kick in the 21st minute, giving CSUSB the lead entering the break.

The Yotes doubled their edge on a 25-yard free kick from Carmoni that connected in the upper left V past a leaping Alyssa Congdon.

That deficit seemed to wake up the Toros, however, as senior Makenzie Pedrotti's free kick was collected by Brooke Thompson, who beat Yote keeper Tiffany Mallick to cut the lead in half at 76:09.

Pedrotti then did the honors herself three minutes later after collecting a deflection in the CSUSB goalmouth, and heading her shot over Mallick for the equalizer.

After neither team was able to find the net the rest of regulation, it was senior Congdon who instigated the final sequence of her career.

Controlling a ball in her zone, Congdon unleashed a perfect pass to a streaking Jessica Murphy, who raced behind the defense and lofted her shot over an onrushing Mallick for the thrilling game-winner.

Congdon, CSUDH's all-time leader in wins, and Mallick each recorded 9 saves, as one Torrance native combined with another Torrance native to give the supportive crowd of 181 its money's worth.

Prior to the game, the Toros bade farewell to six seniors in Kristan Boyle, Karina Jahn, Melissa Livergood, Pedrotti, Lauren Ruvalcaba and Congdon, who all played in their final game as a Toro in the victory.

Next year the Toros will return 21 letter-winners, including their two-headed senior offensive monster in Murphy and Taylor Canatsey as they look to return to both CCAA and NCAA postseason play.
