Box Score
CHICO - In a battle of division leaders, No. 6 Chico State benefited from two first-half goals and a 9-3 advantage in cards issued as the Wildcats took a 3-1 win over visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills in a key CCAA league battle to drop the Toros to 5-2-2, 4-2-1 CCAA.  Sophomore Andre Turoldo tallied the lone score for the defending CCAA and NCAA West Region Champions.

The hosts struck quickly as Tyson Crim collected an Evan Johnston corner kick and headed it past the 6-4 frame of CCAA Newcomer Markus Dickerson at the 2:19 mark to give Chico State a 1-0 lead.

That momentum reached its apex 10 minutes later as the Toros were issued both a yellow and red card, with Dickerson being summoned off for what the center official deemed abusive language after Wildcat Josh Borja took a shot to the face running down a ball in the box to give CSUC a penalty kick, which Ferid Celosmanovic converted after Dickerson's red.

Scott Locken followed Dickerson off the field in the 30th minute after receiving his own red, putting CSUDH in more of a hole on top of its 2-0 deficit.

Much to their credit, the Toros cut the lead in half after Turoldo pounded in his score at the mouth of the goal in the 54th minute, but that was as close as CSUDH would get after Celosmanovic struck again in the 77th minute to put the game away past back-up keeper Eric Davis.

The two teams combined for just 14 shots on the day with the Wildcats notching nine, while notching seven corners to CSUDH's five.

The two teams virtually split the 39 fouls called in the game, but not where it counted most in the form of seven yellows and two reds for the Toros, compared to three cautions for the hosts, who improved to 8-1, 6-1 CCAA.

CSUDH concludes its northern California trip Sunday as it locks up with CS Stanislaus, which pounded former No. 1 in the nation Cal State L.A. by a 4-0 count in Turlock.
