CARSON -- Looking to hold onto a 1-nil lead after intermission, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team finally fell victim to visiting Point Loma's aggressive second half attack after a penalty kick attempt found the back of the net for the Sea Lions in the eventual 1-1 tie.
Amaury Sanders notched his second goal of the year in the opening stanza as the Toros move to 1-1-2 on the year.
The match was tight from the opening whistle as the visitors enjoyed a slight 4-3 edge in shots, with Toro keeper
Keegan O'Brien making two saves in the process.
The Toros managed just one shot on goal in the first half, but Sanders made that count after slotting his shot into the lower right corner for the match's first goal at the 32:05 mark, where the score remained entering the half.
In the second half, PLNUÂ tallied a 14-4 advantage on shots, with four coming on frame.
CSUDH's defense, however, kept the Sea Lions off the board for the first 44:04 of the half until Jack Merrill converted his PK attempt to equalize, giving the hosts their second draw in a row.
Sanders and
Jose Peredia each took two shots with one on goal, while O'Brien made five saves to help salvage a point for the Cardinal and Gold.
CSUDH hosts Texas A&M on Friday at Toro Stadium, with first kick set for 7 pm.
