Neka Mixon Named Wilson/CCAA Player of the Week

Walnut Creek, CA -- Cal State Dominguez Hills guard/forward Neka Mixon has been named Wilson California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 23-27. It marks the second time this season Mixon has been honored.

Mixon, a 5-foot-10 sophomore from Long Beach, Calif., averaged 17.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in a pair of road contests at Sonoma State and Humboldt State.

During a 48-36 victory at Sonoma State, Mixon tallied 22 points and 10 rebounds. She followed that performance with her sixth double-double of the season as she contributed 12 points and 12 rebounds in a 71-57 loss at Humboldt State.

Only a sophomore, Mixon has secured herself as one of the best players in the CCAA after her first year of competition at the collegiate level. Averaging 16.7 points p/g and a total of 451 this season, Mixon is the CCAA's second leading scorer while her .458 field goal percentage has her at number six in that regard. She is also eighth in rebounding with 7.3 p/g and a total of 196, fourth in steals with 2.3 p/g and 61 total and seventh in blocks with 0.9 p/g and 23 total.

Cal State Dominguez Hills returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts San Francisco State in the first round of the CCAA Tournament beginning at 5:30pm in the Torodome.
