Toros Athletics Debuts at No. 12 in 2009 Fall Learfield Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Bolstered by an NCAA Title game appearance by the women's soccer team and an NCAA quarterfinal showing by the men's program, Cal State Dominguez Hills debuted at No. 12 out of 118 schools listed in the Learfield Sports Director's Cup after the 2009 fall season, it was announced by NACDA.

This marks the highest fall finish in the history of the CSUDH Athletics department, topping even the 2008 season when the men's soccer team claimed the NCAA National Title, spurring a tie for No. 20 after the fall 2008 campaign.

Thus far, six All-America honors have been earned, led by repeat 1st-team selections for men's soccer's #Kevin Gallaugher# on both the Daktronics and National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) ballots, including his second-consecutive Player of the Year honor for the NSCAA.

In the region, Chico State (No. 8), Cal State L.A. (No. 10) and Alaska Anchorage (No. 11) were three West Region schools ahead of CSUDH, with Western Washington (T-No. 18), Seattle Pacific (No. 23) and UC San Diego (No. 30) following closest behind the Toros.

Last year, the Toros finished the 2008-09 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup at No. 46 of 234 schools that qualified, its top overall finish in the history of its athletics program.
