Los Angeles, CA -- Fourth-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills was out-shot 8-5 in a second half that saw the host Golden Eagles score at 63:35, and that was enough to hand the Toros a 1-0 loss on a sunny Sunday morning in Jesse Owens Track.  Both scoreless and winless in their last two contests, CSUDH falls to 7-1-1, 2-1-1 CCAA.  Toro keeper Miguel Benitez made 5 saves in the loss.

CSULA's Bryce Beall scored the game's only goal as the hosts notched their third straight shutout and fourth of the season, and lifted the Golden Eagles into sole possession of first place in the CCAA South Division with 10 points.

Noe David made six saves for the Golden Eagles, who have won their last three games, 1-0. Cal State L.A. has allowed only four goals all season, two of them in a tie at Cal State San Bernardino.

Both teams had 14 shots each – the Toros held a 9-6 advantage in the opening half, while Cal State L.A. had an 8-5 advantage in the second half.

The game's only goal was set up by Spencer Tripp, who took a hard shot that was deflected by Benitez. Josh Sandoval was the first one to control the rebound and he also took a shot that was saved by the Toro goalie. Beall got to that rebound and knocked it into the goal in the 64th minute to give the Golden Eagles the only goal they would need.

It was Beall's second goal of the season and his second game-winner.

Both teams had some scoring chances early, only to be thwarted by the goalies. Sandoval had the first great chance about two minutes in, but Benitez made a diving deflection to prevent a goal.

Beall had a hard shot about 16 minutes in that was saved by Benitez and Cal State L.A.'s Kyle Hewitt got to it first, but his blistering shot sailed just over the crossbar.

The Toros' best chance came when Mike Piechota drilled a shot that hit the post and Cal State L.A. defender Mickey Daly was there just in time to clear the rebound away.

Beall's goal came after some strong pressure by the Golden Eagles, who got the better of the action in the second half and were able to keep Cal State Dominguez Hills' high-octane offense quiet the rest of the way. The Toros entered the game outscoring their opponents, 16-3.

The Toros look to rebound on Friday when Cal State San Bernardino makes its annual visit to Toro Stadium for a 4:30 pm first kick.
