Turlock, CA -- Senior Nonso Nibo's 19 points on 5-of-7 shooting led five Toros in double-figure scoring as CSUDH sizzled from the floor in making 58% of its shots to take an 88-79 win at Cal State Stanislaus.  With the victory, the Toros move to 16-9 overall, and into a tie for 3rd place with UC San Diego at 11-8 in conference with just one game remaining in the regular season after the Tritons fell at CS Monterey Bay earlier this evening.  With one more victory tomorrow night at Chico State, CSUDH assures itself a first-round home game on Tuesday, March 4.

The Toros led by as much as six early on five points by Jamaal Barnes and a long three by Jonathan Toliver, but the hosts took their first lead of the night at 13-12 on a Chris Hayes jumper at the 13:40 mark.  After tying twice over the next three minutes of play, consecutive 3-pointers by Toliver gave the Toros a 6-point edge as the Toros settled for a 40-35 advantage entering the break.

CSUDH maintained its lead in the second half's early moments until a Duane Jones 3-pointer knotted the game at 49-49, and a Heath Colvin dunk gave the Warriors their first lead of period two.  The two teams continued to exchange baskets, tying for the last time at 59-59 on the first of two Michael Hernandez free throw makes, until a Calvin Westbrook gave CSUS a 61-60 lead with 9:14 left in regulation.

Westbrook's make seemed to awaken the Toro offense as CSUDH reeled off a 10-1 run over the next two minutes, taking control of the contest.  A Rick Cardoso layup with just over five minutes left brought the Warriors to within 70-68, but a Mike Steed jumper and two Barnes free throws gave CSUDH breathing room and a 6-point lead.

The Warriors had one last gasp in them as two Jones foul shots brought them to within 83-79 with 55 ticks left, but CSUDH sank five of its last six foul shots to secure the 8-point win.

Toliver wound up with 17 points on 5-of-6 from 3-point land, while Barnes and Steed were a combined 12-of-19, chipping in with 15 points apiece.  Hernandez, who finished with 11 points to round out the quintet of double-figure scorers, talied 7 of his points from the foul line, missing just once.

Once an achilles' heel for the Toros, CSUDH drained 22-of-28 free throw attempts on the night while dropping CS Stanislaus to 6-20, 5-14 CCAA.

The Toros look to wrap up a first round hosting assignment tomorrow night as they travel to Chico State, with first tip scheduled for 8:00 pm.
