BILLINGS, Mont. -- After splitting its CCAA opening series at perennial power Chico State last weekend, the Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team moved up one spot to No. 9 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Associaton West Region Top 10 poll, it was announced earlier.
In the series, the Toros were outscored 23-22 in the split, winning the middle two games by outscoring the Wildcats 20-6.
Offensively, CSUDH sits 4th in slugging percentage and 5th in batting average and doubles. On the mound, the Toros lead the league in fewest home runs allowed, sit 3rd in fewest runs allowed and lowest batting average against, 4th in shutouts and 5th in ERA and saves.
Offensively,
Nigel Buckley is 3rd in RBI and 8th in home runs, with
Tristan Usher sitting 6th in home runs and 8th in RBI.
On the mound, closer
Julian Castro is tied for the league lead with three saves, with
Zachary Lopez sitting 4th in opposing batting average, 8th in ERA and 10th in batters struck out.
Jordan Townley is 10th in batters struck out looking while William Paxton is 9th in ERA.
