POMONA -- No. 2 seeded Cal State Dominguez Hills' attempt to repeat as back-to-back CCAA Tournament Champions was thwarted by No. 3 Cal Poly Humboldt in the first semifinal of the 2026 CCAA Championship Tournament after a 76-75 overtime loss to the Lumberjacks.

All-CCAA selection Dasean Stevens led the Toros with 22 points and 11 rebounds in the loss, misfiring on a potential game-winning 3-pointer as time expired in the extra period.

The Toros had no answer for Lumberjack Shakir Odunewu, who poured in 34 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field and a whopping 16-of-20 from the free throw line.

All-CCAAer David Cheatom added 17 points while fellow All-CCAA selections Jalen Brown and Josiah Sanders, who were named to the 1st-team, each added 11 points in a thriller that saw eight ties and 15 lead changes.

Sanders was held to 3-for-12 shooting against his old team, but tied with Stevens with three steals.

CSUDH was out-rebounded by 13, including by six on the offensive glass that contributed to a 19-to-14 edge in second-chance points for Humboldt.

Trailing 28-26 entering the half, CSUDH dug itself a deeper hole after being outscored 8-3 early, but took the lead at the 14:08 mark after a 6-0 run, the last coming on a Cheatom lay-up to put the Toros up 41-40.

Down 66-64 with no time on the clock after getting fouled, Brown calmly drained both free throws to send the game into overtime, CSUDH's second 5-minute session in as many games after taking an overtime win in the regular season finale last Saturday.

In this extra period, however, the Toros were outscored 10-9, ending their bid to repeat as CCAA Tournament Champions.

Sitting as the No. 4 seed in the NCAA West Region poll entering this week, the Toros will find out if their 21-8 record qualifies them for one of the five available at-large berths in the West Region as the NCAA selection show reveals all 64 teams on Sunday, March 8, at 8:00 pm.
