Box Score 2 LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. -- Cal State Dominguez Hills salvaged a split on day two of the West Coast Challenge with an 8-4 win over Regis in the late game after dropping a heart-breaker to Lubbock Christian in the opener.
Savanna Kastigar led the late-game charge with a 3-for-4, 2RBI, 2 run effort, with
Makayla Bishop (pictured) going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored in the opener.
The Toro offense fired on all cylinders early in the late game, scoring five runs in the 2nd inning after
Mila Dolores brought home the game's first run with a single to left center. Kastigar then stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and drove a single to center field that cleared the bases after a costly Ranger error to give the Toros a 5-0 lead.
After Regis earned a pair of runs in their 2nd-inning at-bat, the Toros recouped those runs courtesy of a Kastigar 2RBI double in the 3rd inning. She then stole third and proceeded to cross home plate on an
Audrey Gallegos sacrifice fly for an 8-2 lead.
Mireya Rico added a pair of knocks in the win while
Ashley Ogata earned the win after tossing 4.0 innings of work, scatting five hits and two unearned runs.
In the opener, the Toros looked well on their way to a win after taking a 3-0 lead heading into the top of the 6th. Lubbock Christian, however, used five hits and two Toro errors to score six runs, and withstood a late Toro rally to hold onto a 6-5 win.
Ashley Goodale and
Torie Au each tallied two hits in the loss, with with
Nadia Juarez taking the loss after 5.1 innings of work.
CSUDH concludes the West Coast Challenge tomorrow morning, taking on Western Washington at 11:30 am.
