CARSON -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills enjoyed walking off visiting Biola University in game one of today's non-conference doubleheader by scoring three runs in a 3-2 win, that they did it again in the nightcap in a 3-1 decision to sweep Eagles.
With the wins, CSUDH now has won eight straight and improves to 13-5 on the year.
The visitors took an early 2-0 lead after scoring runs in the first and second innings, holding the Toro bats to just five hits over the first five innings of play.
In the sixth, however,
Marisa Dominguez woke the Toro bats up with a booming solo shot to right center to cut CSUDH's deficit in half. Two outs later,
Savanna Kastigar (pictured) followed Dominguez's suit with a blast to right center as well to knot the game at 2-2.
Holding the Eagle scoreless in the top of the seventh, the Toros used one-out singles by
Gaby Gandara and
Makayla Bishop to set the stage for Dominguez, who roped a double through the left side to bring home Gandara with the game winner.
Nadia Juarez went the distance to pick up the win (5-2), scattering six hits and allowing just one earned run.
Dominguez finished with three hits to lead the offense, with Bishop and Kastigar roping two hits apiece.
The nightcap was nearly a mirror image of the opener as Biola scored first. Down 1-0 in the fourth, the Toros continued to go deep with
Torie Au doing the honors to knot the game at 1-1.
That's where the score remained until the seventh when a Kastigar single set the stage for
Ava Camarena, who sent the Toro faithful home with a 2-run blast over the left field fence for the walk-off win.
Audrey Gallegos picked up the win (3-1), scattering six hits and allowing one run.
The Toros travel to Tracy for the CCAA/GNAC Crossover Tournament, facing Simon Fraser and Montana State Billings on Friday.
