CARSON -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team saw its four-game win streak snapped after dropping a 7-3 decision to crosstown-rival Cal State L.A. this afternoon in game one of a four-game non-conference series.
Nigel Buckley drove in a pair of runs in the loss.
Up 1-0 after four innings of play, three Toro miscues followed that led to a pair of 3-run innings for the Golden Eagle, big innings that proved too difficult to overcome in the setback.
After
Tristan Usher began the scoring with a solo shot to right in the 4th inning, the Golden Eagles struck for three runs in their next at-bat, with the last run scoring after two errors in the frame.
Buckley knotted the contest in the bottom of the 6th with a deep fly over the left field wall, only to have CSULA answer in the top of the 7th with a solo run to take the lead for good.
The visitors put the game away one inning later with three more runs to account for the 7-3 final.
The Toros rapped nine hits, but were ultimately done in by their four errors.
Deegan Grgas paced the offense with a pair of hits with
Jake Estrada taking the loss after 2.0 innings of relief work, allowing four earned runs on four hits.
Game two is set for tomorrow afternoon at Toro Field, with first pitch scheduled for 1 pm.
