ALISA VIEJO -- The California Collegiate Athletic Association has selected Cal State Dominguez Hills'
Jalen Brown as the FloCollege/CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 28-Jan. 3. This is Brown's first such honor and the second for the Toros this season.
Brown averaged a CCAA-best 23.0 points on the week and led the Toros to a road win at Chico State. The junior guard shot 52.9% from the floor in converting on 18-of-34 his attempts, and 41.7% from down town (5-of-12), also draining 71.4% (5-of-7) of his free throws. The junior also averaged 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game as CSUDH improved to 4-2 in CCAA play.
The junior transfer leads the league in conference play scoring 21.0 points per game on 56.8% shooting. His 76 made field goals on the season lead the conference.
Brown began the road trip by scoring 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting at Cal Poly Humboldt, also picking up five rebounds and three steals in a 97-91 overtime loss to the Jacks. Brown matched that output with another 23-point effort in a 97-92 overtime win at Chico State two days later. His 10 made field goals were one short of a season-best.
The Toros return home to host a pair of games this week, beginning with CCAA newcomer UC Merced on Thursday, January 8, with tip set for 7:30 pm in the Torodome. This contest will be streamed live on FloCollege at
