Box Score 2 CARSON -- Cal State Dominguez Hills picked up its first win of the 2026 season as
Tyler Ohlson and
Julian Castro combined to scatter nine hits in a 3-0 win over visiting Fresno Pacific in today's opening contest, with
Quinn Johnson (pictured) roping three hits.
CSUDHÂ would commit three errors in the 7-inning 5-2 nightcap loss, to move to 1-3 on the new year.
In the opener, the Cardinal and Gold pushed across a solo run in their first at-bat to take a quick 1-0 lead after one. That was more than enough for starter Ohlson as the senior righty scattered just four hits over 4.1 innings of work while fanning five.
Castro then entered the game with one out in the 5th and proceeded to duplicate his teammate's effort by blanking FPU for the final 4.2 innings to pick up the club's first win of 2026.
Nigel Buckley added a 2-for-4 performance with Johnson and
Zac Ragland picking up RBIs.
The nightcap saw the Sunbirds score a single run in the top of the 1st, only have the Toros answer with a pair of their own in their 1st-inning at-bat.
FPU, however, answered right back with four runs to take a 5-2 lead, which would prove to be the last scoring of the day.
CSUDH's defense was the late game's culprit as three miscues contributed to all five unearned runs, with
Dylan Goodrich taking the loss after 1.0 inning of work and one run scored.
The Toros managed seven hits compared to just five for the visitors.
CSUDH continues its elongated home next week as Concordia Irvine visits Toro Field on Thursday for a 1 pm first pitch.
