CARSON, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills put together a gritty performance in its home opener Friday night inside the Torodome, falling 3-0 to perennial power Cal State San Bernardino in California Collegiate Athletic Association play.
The Toros pushed the Coyotes to the brink in the first and third sets, dropping narrow 25-22 and 25-23 decisions after extended rallies kept the home crowd energized.
Ava Hurry led CSUDH with 10 kills while adding eight digs and three service aces. Camryn Perdue followed with six kills on a team-best .364 hitting percentage and contributed three block assists. Natalia Walden-Schulz tallied six kills while hitting .333, and Bailey Fuches chipped in five kills and five digs.
Jaiden Mojica directed the offense with 13 assists and 12 digs, while Giovannina De Sisto added 16 assists, four digs and a service ace. Libero Nina Robles anchored the defense with 10 digs.
As a team, the Toros posted 32 kills, 32 assists, 48 digs and seven service aces.
