CARSON, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills showed resilience in front of its home crowd Friday night but came up short in a 3-1 decision to San Francisco State in CCAA play inside the Torodome.
After dropping the first two sets 25-22 and 25-14, the Toros regrouped in the third to take a 25-17 win. The Gators, however, closed out the match with a 25-22 edge in the fourth.
Ava Hurry led the way with 14 kills and 11 digs to record a double-double. Bailey Fuches followed with nine kills and added three block assists, while Natalia Walden-Schulz contributed four kills and two digs. Cassie Taylor also provided a spark with four kills and seven digs, and Jade Fuentes chipped in two kills and two blocks.
Jaiden Mojica directed the offense with 19 assists and 10 digs, while Giovannina De Sisto added 12 assists and four digs. Defensively, Nina Robles collected nine digs and three assists, with Anna Sanzaro tallying three kills, two digs and a block assist.
As a team, the Toros finished with 46 kills, 40 assists, 51 digs and seven service aces.
