Box Score SEASIDE, Calif. — The No. 3 Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros remains the only undefeated team in NCAA Division II, securing an 86-62 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday afternoon at the Otter Sports Center. With the victory, the Toros improve to 26-0 overall and 18-0 in CCAA play, continuing to dominate as they lead the conference in field goal percentage, offensive rebounds, and turnover margin.
The Toros wasted no time establishing control, jumping out to a 22-10 lead in the first quarter. Their defensive intensity was on full display, holding the Otters to just 22.2% shooting in the opening frame. Nala Williams and Cristina Jones led the charge, combining for 14 points, while Teagan Thurman controlled the glass with three early rebounds.
Dominguez Hills extended its lead in the second quarter with another strong defensive effort, allowing just eight points while forcing nine turnovers. The Toros, ranked No. 1 in the CCAA in turnover margin (10.92), capitalized on their defensive pressure, scoring 14 points off turnovers in the first half. The offense remained balanced as Milan Tuttle provided key minutes off the bench, finishing with seven points and six rebounds. By halftime, the Toros held a commanding 44-18 lead.
Monterey Bay found its rhythm in the third quarter, shooting 63.6% from the field and knocking down six three-pointers. However, Dominguez Hills maintained its composure, responding with 20 points of its own to keep the lead intact. Williams, who leads the CCAA in both scoring and assists, facilitated the offense with five assists while adding 10 points of her own.
The Toros closed out the game in the fourth quarter with another dominant stretch, outscoring the Otters 22-12 in the paint. Thurman continued her strong play inside, finishing with a game-high as 23 points and seven rebounds, the points were also a season high for the senior. Williams stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, eight assists, and three steals, reinforcing her status as the CCAA leader in assists and steals. Jones added 16 points and six rebounds, while Kya Pearson contributed four points and two steals, ranking third in the conference in steals per game.
The Toros finished the game shooting 46.3% from the field while holding Monterey Bay to 38.3% overall. Dominguez Hills' defense forced 24 turnovers, leading to 28 points, and their dominance on the boards was evident, grabbing 49 total rebounds, including 22 on the offensive end.
Toros now returns home for its final two home games of the regular season, hosting Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 5:30 p.m. before celebrating Senior Day against Chico State on Saturday, Feb. 22.
