SAN DIEGO — Despite a slow offensive start, Cal State Dominguez Hills found its rhythm in the second half, but the comeback effort wasn't enough as the Toros fell 73–48 to Point Loma on Wednesday night at Golden Gymnasium.
After scoring just 16 points across the opening two quarters, the Toros (0–3) responded with a strong 17-point third period and continued to battle through the fourth. CSUDH outscored the Sea Lions 32–36 in the second half, showing poise, energy, and improved execution on both ends.
Tiara Jones led the Toros with 9 points and 6 rebounds, providing steady inside play across a team-high 27 minutes. Bryanne Lopez-Wood added 10 points and 4 rebounds, knocking down key shots to spark the second-half surge.
Camryn Washington delivered an efficient night off the bench with 6 points and 4 rebounds, while Leilani Abraham contributed 4 points and a rebound in limited action. Zanna Hurst added 5 points, including a three, and Jada Sanders chipped in 4 points and 4 boards.
CSUDH won the turnover battle (forcing 14) and saw nine different Toros record points, continuing to showcase its developing depth early in the season.
The Toros return home next week looking to build on their second-half momentum as they continue their non-conference slate.
