CARSON, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills continued its strong run in CCAA play Friday night, defeating nationally ranked No. 25 Cal Poly Pomona 2-1 at Toro Stadium.
The Broncos struck first in the seventh minute, but the Toros answered before halftime. In the 44th minute, David Politron sent a perfectly placed ball to Justin Cuevas, who found the back of the net to even the score at 1-1.
CSUDH carried that momentum into the second half. Cole Bon delivered the game-winner in the 63rd minute off a well-timed assist from Aldair Marta, putting the Toros in front for good.
The Toros' defense and goalkeeping stood tall the rest of the way. Keegan O'Brien recorded five saves, including several clutch stops down the stretch to preserve the victory.
Dominguez Hills outshot Pomona 16-15, with three shots on goal, and matched the Broncos in corner kicks with two apiece.
