SEASIDE, Calif. - With the split against the Otters in yesterday's games, the Toros looked to get both wins in the doubleheader today. The Toros had a tough first game again but came out on top in game two splitting the series on day two.
Game One
The Toros had a tough time getting their offense going and could not stop the Otters. The Toros did make great efforts though. Pitcher Lilliana Garcia had an incredible 21 putouts in the match. In the outfield,
Kaylee Hull and Kianna Abellara had 3 putouts each. The Toros fell to the Otters 10-1 in game one.
Game Two
The score deficit in game one did not discourage the Toros. They came for revenge with an outstanding performance for game two. The Toros held the Otters to zero runs showing their defensive excellence throughout the match. To start the first inning
Mariah Ramirez, who had 2 homers in yesterday's game two, came in strong with a homer to center field and brought in
Jay Ross. This gave the Toros a 2-0 lead going into the second. With
Jay Ross up to bat she lined out to left field bringing in
Maiya Lopez. After the top of the second inning both teams remained scoreless until the fourth. The Toros looked to expand the score gap even more to seal the victory for them. With
Jay Ross up to bat again looking to bring in
Julisa Gomez who was on base, Ross singled down left field bringing the Toros to a 4-0 lead. The Otters had no answer for the Toros offense as
Kaylee Hull homered down the left line and brought in
Mia Ayala. The score remained 6-0 until the sixth inning. As the Toros looked close out the match,
Kianna Abellera grounded out to second base advancing
Faith Hernandez to second and bringing
Jay Ross home. The Toros finished the match with a score of 7-0 over the Otters.
