Toros Take Two To Win Series Against Cal Poly Humboldt

CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros won both games of their doubleheader against the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks to win the series, 3-1.

Game One
In a closely contested matchup, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros triumphed over the Humboldt State Lumberjacks with a narrow 5-4 win in the opening game.

The Lumberjacks surged ahead in the first inning with a single to right field that drove in a run. They extended their lead in the third inning with a home run to left center. However, the Toros quickly retaliated in the bottom of the third, as Kaylee Hull's two-RBI single leveled the score. Mariah Ramirez's solo homer in the fifth gave the Toros a 4-2 lead. Despite the Lumberjacks' attempts to rally with runs in the sixth and seventh innings, the Toros' defense held firm, securing the win.

Sara Bhatt, who pitched two scoreless innings in relief, earned the win for the Toros. Mariah Ramirez came in for the final two innings, securing the save with a solid performance on the mound.

Game Two
In an exhilarating second game, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros staged a late-game rally to secure a thrilling 5-3 victory over the Humboldt State Lumberjacks.

Despite the Lumberjacks taking an early lead with RBI singles in the second inning, the Toros remained resilient. In the fifth inning, Jay Ross's three-run homer sparked a comeback, bringing in Alexis Aguado and Gaby Gandara to tie the game. Although the Lumberjacks managed to level the score in the seventh inning, the Toros answered back with a decisive play in the bottom of the frame. Mariah Ramirez's two-run homer, with Ross scoring, sealed the victory for the Toros.

With the game tied, Mariah Ramirez came in for the final two outs, securing the win.
