Toros Fall to East Bay 0-3, but Split Series 2-2

HAYWARD, Calif.,- Despite a strong defensive effort, The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros were unable to rally against Cal State East Bay, resulting in a 0-3 loss.

The scoring began late in the contest, with Cal State East Bay breaking the deadlock in the seventh inning. They executed a sacrifice fly to center field, driving in a runner for the first run of the game. Moments later, they added to their lead with an RBI single to left field, bringing the score to 2-0.

Cal State East Bay extended their lead in the eighth inning with a solo home run to center field capturing the victory 3-0.

Noah Karliner, the designated hitter, managed to secure one of the Toros' six hits. Right fielder Garet Crenshaw and left fielder Alex Sepulveda each added a hit, with Sepulveda also taking a walk. First baseman Anthony Accordino was a bright spot, going 2-for-4, demonstrating his capability to get on base.

Evan Vazquez started for the Toros, delivering a strong 6.2 innings where he allowed two earned runs on eight hits, striking out six while walking just one. Vazquez's performance was efficient, utilizing 89 pitches to navigate through the East Bay lineup, inducing ten groundouts that kept the game within reach.

Relieving Vazquez, Joseph Jimenez Jr. took the mound, contributing 1.1 innings. He surrendered one earned run on a single hit, adding one strikeout to his brief but impactful appearance. Jimenez's effort was not enough to stem the tide as Cal State East Bay secured their lead late in the game with a solo home run off his delivery.

The Toros return home for their finale home series Friday April 19th as they take on Sonoma State, first pitch is 3pm.
