Toros Dominate Sonoma State in Series Opener, 9-3

CARSON- In a dominant display of offense, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros outpaced Sonoma State with a decisive 9-3 victory.

The Toros fired up the scoreboard early in the first inning, setting the tone for the game. Garet Crenshaw kicked off the scoring with an RBI single that brought Jeffrey Ray home. Alex Sepulveda followed with a double that drove in Noah Karliner, and Anthony Accordino continued the rally with a single to score Sepulveda.

The Toros extended their lead in the fourth with Ray flying out to center field to bring CJ Masciel across the plate. The fifth inning saw further action as Emilio Barrera and Grant Decatrel each recorded RBI singles, pushing the score to 6-0.

Sonoma State attempted a late-game comeback in the eighth inning with a hitting a two-run double, but the Toros responded emphatically. Karliner and Accordino each blasted home runs in the bottom of the eighth, Karliner's being a solo shot and Accordino's a two-run homer, sealing the win for the Toros.

Despite a ninth inning run from Sonoma State, the Toros' early offensive outburst and solid pitching secured the victory 9-3.

Brian Kraft anchored the team with a stellar outing, pitching 7.2 innings, allowing just two runs on a mere hit while striking out five and walking four. His control and efficiency on the mound were critical, earning him his fourth win of the season.

Alejandro Espinoza made a brief but effective appearance, throwing only five pitches in one-third of an inning and striking out a batter, ensuring the transition out of the eighth inning was smooth.

Derek Ryan closed the game, pitching the final inning and allowing one run on two hits, maintaining the lead and securing the Toros' 9-3 win.
