Toros Split Doubleheader Against Cal State San Marcos

CARSON- The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros split a thrilling doubleheader against Cal State San Marcos, showcasing resilience and offensive firepower in both contests.
 
Game 1:
 
In a back-and-forth affair, the Toros rallied from behind to secure a victory against Cal State San Marcos. The scoring commenced in the first inning when Cal State San Marcos took an early lead with an RBI single. However, the Toros responded in the third inning when Kaylee Hull's single to right side brought in Jay Ross, reducing the deficit to 3-1.
 
The Toros' offense came alive in the fifth inning, as they exploded for six runs to seize control of the game. Kaylee Hull's second RBI single of the day brought in Alexis Aguado, leveling the score at 3-3. Kianna Abellera followed with a clutch single down the left-field line, driving in Kaylee Hull and Mia Ayala to give the Toros a 5-3 lead. Samantha Kwiatkowski then delivered a crucial double, bringing in Alex Davis and Kaylee Hull to extend the lead to 7-3. Mireya Rico capped off the scoring barrage with a two-run homer, securing a 7-3 victory for the Toros.
 
Game 2:
 
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Toros engaged in a tightly contested matchup but fell short against Cal State San Marcos. With a two-run homer in the fourth inning Cal State San Marcos would take an early lead. However, the Toros fought back in the fifth inning, with Mireya Rico's RBI double and Jay Ross's RBI double tying the game at 2-2.
 
The Toros surged ahead with Mariah Ramirez's sacrifice fly and Kianna Abellera's two-RBI single, taking a 5-2 lead. However, Cal State San Marcos mounted a late comeback, with another homer bringing them within one run. In the seventh inning, Cal State San Marcos completed the comeback, scoring three runs to secure a 6-5 victory over the Toros.
 
In Game 1, Mariah Ramirez delivered a solid performance, pitching a complete game while allowing three runs and striking out seven batters to secure the win for the Toros.
 
In Game 2, the Toros received contributions from multiple pitchers. Sara Bhatt took the mound first, showcasing her skills with a strong performance. Bhatt pitched 3 innings, allowing only 1 hit and no earned runs while striking out 1 batter.
 
The Toros return to action tomorrow Friday March 29th with another doubleheader against CSUSM, first pitch at 12pm!
