Toros Red Hot in Game 1 but Splits Doubleheader with Cal State San Marcos

CARSON- The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros faced off against Cal State San Marcos in a doubleheader, resulting in a split series with each team claiming a victory.
 
Game 1:
 
In the first game, the Toros showcased their offensive prowess, securing a 7-2 victory over Cal State San Marcos. Kicking off the scoring in the second inning, Kaylee Hull ignited the Toros' offense with a powerful solo home run, leveling the score at 1-1.
 
 The Toros surged ahead in the third inning, with key hits from Kianna Abellera, Mireya Rico, and Alexis Aguado, extending their lead to 5-1. Mariah Ramirez and Rico added to the lead with solo homers in the fifth inning, securing the Toros' victory with a final score of 7-2.
 
Mariah Ramirez took the mound first for the Toros, delivering a strong performance with 4.1 innings pitched. Ramirez struck out 4 batters, allowed 7 hits, and 2 earned runs.
 
Ashley Wies entered the game in relief, providing crucial support with 2.2 innings of exceptional pitching. Wies kept Cal State San Marcos at bay, allowing only 1 hit while keeping them scoreless. Her stellar performance earned her the win, improving her record to 4-2 for the season.
 
Game 2:
 
In the second game, the Toros faced a tough challenge, ultimately falling short with a 10-0 defeat. Despite a late rally in the fifth inning, highlighted by a double from Mireya Rico and a double from Jay Ross, the Toros were unable to overcome an early deficit. Cal State San Marcos capitalized on offensive opportunities throughout the game, building a lead with a final score of 10-0.
 
The Toros will travel to San Francisco to take on SF State Friday April 5th in another doubleheader first game is at 1pm.
