Toros Fall To Pioneers In Series Opening Doubleheader

HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros fell in both games of the opening doubleheader against the Cal State East Bay Pioneers.
 
GAME ONE
 
In a challenging matchup against the Cal State East Bay Pioneers, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros faced difficulties generating offense, resulting in a shutout loss.
 
The Toros' lineup was led by Alexis Aguado, Gaby Gandara, Jay Ross, Kianna Abellera, and Mariah Ramirez.
 
On the defensive side, pitchers Ashley Wies, Joie Steinkamp, and Lillianna Garcia took the mound for the Toros. Although they worked diligently to contain the Pioneers' offense, they faced challenges throughout the game.
 
Despite the tough loss, Kaylee Hull showed patience at the plate, drawing a walk and reaching base once for the Toros. Mia Ayala also displayed discipline, drawing a walk in her lone plate appearance.
 
Defensively, the Toros made 13 putouts in an attempt to stem the Pioneers' offense.
 
GAME TWO
 
In the final game of the day, the Toros were unable to put runs on the board, untimately falling the Pioneers 7-0.
 
Alexis Aguado, playing at second base, led the Toros offensively, going 1-for-3 at the plate. She drew a walk and stole a base to contribute to the Toros' offensive efforts.
 
Gaby Gandara, the center fielder, showed patience at the plate, drawing a walk in her lone plate appearance, but was unable to convert it into a run for the Toros.
 
In the pitching department, Mariah Ramirez, who also played as designated player, delivered a solid performance on the mound for the Toros. She also managed to record a hit in three at-bats, showcasing her versatility on the field.
 
Defensively, Nayah Pola, playing at shortstop, contributed one putout and one assist to the Toros' efforts to limit the Pioneers' offense.
 
Despite the efforts of these key players, the Toros were unable to generate enough offense to overcome the Pioneers' strong pitching and defense, resulting in a shutout loss.
 
The Toros close their series against the Cal State East Bay Pioneers tomorrow March 16th, with first pitch set for 11am.
