CHICO, Calif. – The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros fell on the road to the Chico State Wildcats, 56-66.
With this loss, the Toros remain in first place in the CCAA conference with an overall record of 21-5 and CCAA record of 16-4 The Wildcats tise to overall 19-6 and 14-6 in CCAA play.
The Toros came out strong, establishing a 37-33 lead by the end of the first half. Their offense clicked early on, finding success from both inside the paint and beyond the arc.
Chico State matched the intensity in the second half, scoring 33 points to Cal State Dominguez Hills' 19. As the final whistle blew, the Toros ultimately fell to the Wildcats, 56-66.
Jeremy Dent-Smith led the Toros with a game-high 23 points, demonstrating his determination to score by going 7-15 from the field, including 2-7 from beyond the arc, and a solid 7-9 from the free-throw line.
Andre Ball and
Jakob Alamudun each contributed seven points to the Toros' effort. Ball, in addition to his scoring, pulled down nine rebounds, leading the team in this category. Alamudun, alongside his scoring contribution, added five rebounds.
Alex Garcia also chipped in with seven points, including a three-pointer, and contributed four rebounds and a steal, highlighting his all-around game.
The Toros will face Cal Poly Humboldt Saturday, February 24
th on the road with tip-off set for 7:30pm.
