CARSON, Calif. — The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team delivered a solid 80-65 victory over Nobel University in an exhibition matchup on Saturday night at the Torodome. With contributions from both starters and the bench, the Toros controlled the game from start to finish.
The first half saw Dominguez Hills set the pace, using an aggressive offensive attack to build a 38-31 lead at halftime. David Cheatom led the way with 15 first-half points, including a perfect 8-for-8 performance from the free-throw line. The Toros' defense forced 10 turnovers in the half, creating opportunities for fast breaks and transition buckets. Adam Afifi and Isaiah Bernard-Lopez chipped in with timely baskets, helping the Toros establish a lead they would never relinquish.
In the second half, the Toros extended their advantage by outscoring Nobel 42-34. Cheatom continued his stellar play, finishing with a game-high 26 points, including four three-pointers. Afifi added nine of his 12 points after halftime, while Bernard-Lopez contributed 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists. The Toros showcased their defensive intensity throughout the game, forcing 21 turnovers and turning them into 36 points.
David Cheatom led all scorers with 26 points, shooting 4-for-5 from beyond the arc and a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. Adam Afifi added 12 points, three rebounds, and two blocks, while Isaiah Bernard-Lopez contributed 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists. DJ Guest provided a strong presence off the bench with nine points and three rebounds, and John Solomon added seven points and six rebounds to round out the team effort.
The Toros will return to action next Saturday, December 21st, for a CCAA matchup against Cal State LA at 3 p.m. in the Torodome.
