SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills faced a challenging opponent in Cal State San Marcos, falling 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 26-24) on Friday evening in CCAA play at The Sports Center.
The Toros saw standout performances from junior
Kayly Pau, who led the team with 8 kills on 23 attempts, hitting .174, and sophomore
Camryn Perdue, who contributed 7 kills on a .250 hitting percentage. Senior
Ava Hurry added 7 kills and 8 digs, helping to keep the Toros competitive in each set.
Defensively, libero
Nina Robles led with 6 digs, while
Bailey Fuches distributed 10 assists and also provided defensive support with 6 digs of her own. Despite their efforts, the Toros struggled to find offensive consistency, hitting .134 as a team.
CSUDH showed resilience in a closely contested third set, which featured 12 tie scores and five lead changes. The Toros pushed the set into extra points but ultimately fell 26-24 as Cal State San Marcos (7-15, 5-10 CCAA) secured the sweep.
The Toros will look to regroup and bounce back in their next CCAA matchup against Cal Poly Pomona tomorrow at 3pm.
