CARSON, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills faced a tough opponent in Cal State East Bay, falling 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-17) in a CCAA match at the Torodome on Saturday.
The Toros were led by junior
Kayly Pau, who delivered a strong offensive performance with 8 kills on 16 attempts, hitting an impressive .500. Freshman
Camryn Perdue added 7 kills with a .389 hitting percentage, contributing solidly at the net. Senior
Aleya Starnes also had an efficient outing, recording 5 kills on a .500 hitting clip.
Defensively, libero
Nina Robles anchored the back row with 9 digs, while
Bailey Fuches and
Maya Barron contributed with 7 and 3 assists, respectively. Despite their efforts, the Toros hit .106 as a team, struggling to match the .284 hitting percentage of the Pioneers.
Cal State Dominguez Hills kept the first set competitive, hitting .225 with 14 kills, but a late push by East Bay resulted in a 25-20 loss. The Toros faced more challenges in the second set, hitting .000, and were unable to keep pace, falling 25-11. In the final set, the Toros managed 10 kills but ultimately fell 25-17 to conclude the match.
The Toros will look to regroup as they will take on the Cal State East Bay Pioneers tomorrow November 2nd at 5pm.
