HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros dropped a tightly contested match to the Cal State East Bay Pioneers, falling 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-22) in CCAA action Friday evening at Pioneer Gymnasium.
The Toros battled throughout the match but were unable to overcome a potent Cal State East Bay attack, which hit .324 as a team.
Ava Hurry led the Toros' offense with nine kills, three service aces, and a .273 hitting percentage.
Kayly Pau added eight kills, while
Grace Ford and
Maria Bejines-Garibay contributed 5 kills respectively.
In the first set, the Toros fought hard, but a late surge by Cal State East Bay allowed the Pioneers to pull away and win 25-20. The second set followed a similar pattern, with the Toros showing resilience but ultimately falling 25-20.
Despite a strong push in the third set, the Toros were edged out 25-22.
Bailey Fuches led the team with 25 assists and added 5 digs, while
Nina Robles anchored the defense with 6 digs.
The Toros are back on the floor tomorrow, Saturday, October 5
th as they take on the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters at 5pm.
