Box Score SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.- The California State University, Dominguez Hills Toros drop another road contest to California State University San Bernardino 61-74 in Coussoulis Arena.
Both teams now have the same 6-7 CCAA record after the game. The Toros fall to 9-10 overall and CSUSB moves to 8-10 overall.
The Toros would have a 14-10 point lead after a slow start offensively for both teams. In the second quarter each team would shoot better from the field and the quarter was tightly contested with the Toros holding onto a 31-25 point lead going into halftime.
CSUDH would not have their best three-point shooting game which would prove to be a momentum switch for CSUSB who would knock down seven threes on the afternoon.
After halftime the Toros would have a six-point lead 37-31 with six minutes left to go in the third quarter. CSUSB used a 14-8 point run to end the quarter tying the game at 45-45 going into the fourth quarter. The Toros shot 41% but went 0-3 from the three-point line, the Coyotes would knock down 2-3 of their three pointers and shoot 57% from the field.
CSUDH led most of the game, but CSUSB would use a late game surge to pull away with the win. The Toros would come within one point with four minutes left to go in the game, but the Coyotes would eventually pull away. Going on a 16-4 point run to close out the game the Coyotes would shoot 50% from the field going 3-6 from the three-point line.
Asia Jordan notched another double-double on the season contributing 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Toros.
Nala Williams led the way scoring for CSUDH with 17 points. She also added nine rebounds and grabbed three steals.
Amaya Snowden had 11 points shooting 4-8 from the field, six rebounds, and three steals on the afternoon.
CSUDH is back on the road next week as they take on Cal State University Monterey Bay Thursday, February 1st at 5:30pm in Seaside.
