POMONA, Calif. – In a gripping overtime showdown,
Jeremy Dent-Smith etched his name in the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros record book with 41 points and nine three pointers made as the Toros clinched a 101-87 victory over the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos.
The Toros expand their win streak to six games and now stand at the helm of the CCAA conference. The Toros now lead the conference with a CCAA record of 10-2 and overall record of 15-3. The Broncos drop down to 10
th place in the CCAA with a record of 4-8 overall and 5-11 CCAA.
The matchup, held at Cal Poly Pomona's home court, was evenly matched from the start, with both teams ending the first half tied at 41 points. The second half saw an identical scoring effort from both sides, each adding 46 points to their totals, which sent the game into overtime.
The overtime period was where the Toros truly shined. Demonstrating superior endurance and strategy as they outscored the Broncos 14-0, securing a decisive victory.

Jeremy Dent-Smith earned his place in Toros history as he played for 42 minutes and scored a remarkable 41 points, just one point shy of tying the most points scored in a single game (Deshay Gipson scored 42 points in 2017). He was exceptional from the three-point line, hitting 9 beyond the arc to tie for most three-pointers made in a single game held also by Deshay Gipson (2017) and Colten Kresl (2022). Dent-Smith was nearly flawless from the free-throw line, sinking 8 of 10. He also contributed four assists and four steals, showcasing his all-around game.
Jakob Alamudun also played a pivotal role in the Toros' victory. In his 40 minutes on the court, Alamudun racked up 27 points, shooting an efficient 8-11 from the field and a perfect 9-9 from the free-throw line. He also dominated the boards with eight rebounds.
Andre Ball added 17 points in 39 minutes, hitting 5 out of 8 field goal attempts and 6 of 8 free throws. Ball's contribution extended beyond scoring, as he also gathered four rebounds.
The Toros head to Cal State San Bernardino (14-4;9-3 CCAA) on Saturday, January 27
th as they tip-off against the Coyotes at 3pm.
